Hard Work, Soft Thinking

Ed got a job painting the lines in the middle of the road. The first day he painted six miles of lines and his boss was very pleased. On his second day though, his distance dropped to only four miles. On the third day of his new job Ed only painted two miles worth of lines and his boss called him into the office.

"Ed," the boss said, "I don't understand why you are painting so much less. You got off to such a great start."

"Well, it should be obvious," Ed explained, "Every day I'm getting further and further away from the can of paint."
