The Old Italian Man's Tomato Garden
An old Italian gentleman lived alone in New Jersey. He wanted to plant his annual tomato garden, but the work was difficult as the ground was very hard. His only son Vincent used to help him turn the soil, but he had been sent to prison. He wrote his son and told him of his predicament.
Dear Vincent,
I am pretty sad with your being away and all. I was going to plant our annual tomato garden but the ground is too hard for my old back. I know if you were here you would help me turn the soil, and my troubles would be over. Like we used to do in the old days.
Love,
Your Dad
A few days later Dad receives a letter from Vincent.
Dad,
Whatever you do, DO NOT dig in the garden patch. That is where the bodies are buried!
Vincent
The next morning at 4 AM the old man was awoken by a large group of FBI agents and local police who spent the day with large equipment digging in the garden. They dug and dug but found nothing, so they carefully replaced all of the soil and apologized to the old man for the inconvenience.
The next day a second latter arrived from Vincent.
Dad,
Sorry about the confusion but you can go ahead and plant the tomatoes now. It was the best I could do for you under the circumstances.
Love,
Vincent
